Found this draft from back in May. Thought I'd share it while I unwind. I don't think I'd finished it, but I don't have the train of thought for it, so it is what it is.
The timing thing goes beyond just my little guys and crying. It's a universal kid fact.
Every mom knows that as soon as she picks up that book, there will be a constant stream of kids with emergencies.
They never outgrow it, either. Even when they don't live with you anymore and have kids of their own, they'll still do it.
Husbands carry it over to their wives, too. Mr. Bob is great at this.
Maybe the dad's teach the kids.
It's a plot.
I knew it.

Leave Of Abscence, Again
Yup, I'm taking off to go see family, again. It's our normal yearly trip. I should be back to posting in a week.
Ya know, if I don't go all lazy and disappear for a few months, again.

Mixed Signals
You know those dumb printouts they give you at the Well Child appointments? You know, "here's what your kid may be doing!," and all that crap?
When I took Bobber in for his four month the sheet was all about how you may be starting your kid on real food in the next couple months (you know, cuz taunting him with the plastic food out of the toddler's play kitchen isn't working so well anymore). They stress that your kid doesn't NEED the food yet, but here's a detailed list (down to the COLOR) so you know how to introduce the food he doesn't yet need so you won't give your kid horrible food allergies and make them the pickiest eater the planet has ever known.
Pressure much?
So, if they're trying to tell your kid doesn't need the food until they're older, why do the hardly mention that and then spend a few pages (not really, but work with me here) on how to introduce this food that they don't think they need yet?
Of course, this is the same office where the pediatrician freaked out at LittleBob's One Year Well Child Checkup that I was still nursing him. How come everyone complains about the pressure to breastfeed and I feel like a freak because my kid didn't wean until a week later?
I wonder what she'll say when she finds out I decided to wait until closer to six months with Bobber to start him on cereal (and not that baby flake crap, but Cream of Wheat).
FYI LittleBob had his first food when he was just shy of five months and it wasn't rice cereal. Not only has he yet to develop any allergies, his loves his vegetables more than almost anything else. So forgive me if, once again, I don't make my kid eat that nasty flake rice cereal crap, that most kids I know don't like, for a few weeks before starting him on some orange or yellow vegetables. Waiting a few days before introducing anything new, of course.
And stop telling me peas are so great a such a favorite! Have you tried those things? AWFUL! My kid wouldn't touch them, but one of his favorite vegetables now is peas. Just because he won't eat that crap-in-a-jar masquerading as peas doesn't mean he'll hate them for life.
Of course I don't buy the baby jars of applesauce, are you kidding me? He can just have some of mine.
Bananas? Are you serious? It takes like five seconds to mash a bit of mine, thanks.
And you can just forget those tiny things of juice. If the boys are getting juice, they can drink from the same container as the rest of us.
I think you can all understand why my pediatrician tried moving her office to a new city to get away from me.
